Who is Ife?
Ife Oyedokun is a Nigerian-born director inspired by his real-life dog, Riff Raff, an American Bully, to create the animated movie “Ife and Riff Raff.” Growing up in the inner city of Chicago, surrounded by gangs and violence, Ife found solace in football and animals, especially dogs. When he met Riff Raff, he noticed something special about him. Children and adults alike instantly fell in love with Riff Raff, whose unique personality made it seem as if he were a human trapped in a dog’s body. Riff Raff brought happiness and laughter into people’s hearts, inspiring Ife to write a book depicting the bond between a young boy and his American Bully as they navigate the struggles of childhood and fitting into a new neighborhood.
“The Adventures of Ife and Riff Raff” sold over 5,000 copies, inspiring Ife to create an animated film based on the storybook.
Ife’s creative journey began with stand-up comedy, performing for over 12 years after being mentored by Dave Chappelle and Michael Blackson. He starred in the hit comedy show “Africa Laughs” and produced his own stand-up comedy DVD titled “The Diary of an African.” Ife performed stand-up comedy across the United States before deciding to retire and use his comedic talents to write and curate storybooks, comic books, and animated films.
Ife’s professional career is deeply rooted in his love of psychology. He served as a Mental Health Specialist for Williamson County’s Mobile Outreach Team, providing emergency mental health services and working in hostage negotiation and for Health and Human Services Commission. Ife received his B.S. degree in Psychology from Central State University in Wilberforce, OH, and is a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker.
In his free time, Ife enjoys fishing, watching football, hosting his weekly sports podcast titled “The Parlay Gang,” and spending time with his family.
